Water Filter Servicing & Maintenance
Keep your water filtration and treatment systems performing properly
Filtration systems are an important part of many water supply, irrigation and water treatment systems. Regular servicing helps maintain performance, protect downstream equipment and ensure filtration and treatment components continue to operate as intended.
WTS services a wide range of filtration and water treatment equipment across domestic, agricultural, horticultural and irrigation applications.
From replacing a UV lamp or domestic cartridge through to servicing commercial filtration equipment, we can assess your existing system, carry out routine maintenance and identify components that may require replacement or further attention.

What types of filtration systems do we service?
WTS has experience servicing a broad range of filtration and water treatment systems, including:

UV filtration systems
UV disinfection is commonly used as the final treatment stage for domestic and other water supplies.
Servicing can include:
-
UV lamp replacement
-
Quartz sleeve inspection and cleaning
-
Cartridge replacement
-
Checking filter housings and seals
-
Checking connections and for leaks
-
Checking system operation
-
Identifying components requiring attention
UV lamps are generally replaced annually, regardless of whether the lamp is still visibly operating.

Screen, disc and other particulate filters
Larger-scale water systems often use reusable filtration equipment rather than disposable cartridges.
WTS services filtration such as:
-
Screen filters
-
Disc filters
-
Mesh filters
-
Other particulate filtration systems
These filters can accumulate sediment and debris over time, reducing flow and increasing pressure loss. Regular cleaning, inspection and servicing helps maintain filtration performance.
Biological and sand filtration
Biological and sand filtration systems are used in a range of water treatment and filtration applications.
WTS can service and assess systems incorporating:
-
Sand filters
-
Biological filtration
-
Media filtration
-
Other granular filtration systems
Servicing requirements vary considerably between systems, so we assess the equipment and application before determining the appropriate maintenance.
Hydrocyclones
Hydrocyclones are commonly used as a pre-filtration stage where water contains significant quantities of sand or other heavier particulate matter.
WTS can inspect and service hydrocyclones and associated equipment to help ensure they are operating effectively and protecting downstream filtration and pumping equipment.
Cartridge and particulate filtration
Cartridge filters are widely used for removing sediment and other particulate matter from water.
We service and replace cartridges used in systems such as:
-
Polypleat filters
-
Polyspun filters
-
Sediment filters
-
Carbon cartridges
-
Specialist cartridge filtration
The appropriate cartridge and replacement frequency depends on water quality, the filtration system and water usage.
pH adjustment and chemical filtration
Some water supplies require treatment for naturally occurring minerals and other water quality issues.
WTS services filtration and treatment systems designed for issues including:
-
Low or high pH
-
Iron
-
Manganese
-
Other dissolved or chemical water quality issues
Servicing may include inspection of treatment equipment, media condition, valves, controls and associated components, along with replacement or replenishment of treatment media where required.
Where water quality has changed or the cause of a problem is uncertain, water testing may be recommended before determining the appropriate treatment or servicing requirements.
Irrigation filtration
Reliable filtration is particularly important for irrigation systems. Blocked or inadequate filtration can affect flow, pressure and application uniformity, while allowing debris through to valves, emitters and sprinklers.
WTS services irrigation filtration including:
-
Irrigation screen filters
-
Disc filters
-
Sand and media filters
-
Hydrocyclones
-
Inline filters
-
Other irrigation filtration equipment
We can assess filtration as part of irrigation system servicing and identify where cleaning, replacement, upgrading or changes to filtration may be appropriate.
Domestic, horticultural, agricultural and irrigation systems
Our filtration servicing covers a range of applications.
-
Domestic
Whole-house filtration, UV systems, cartridge filters and water treatment systems.
-
Agricultural
Water filtration and treatment associated with farms, stock water and other agricultural applications.
-
Horticultural
Filtration and water treatment for orchards, nurseries, glasshouses and growing operations.
-
Irrigation
Filtration and pre-treatment for irrigation systems, including screen, disc, sand, media and inline filtration.
The correct filtration and servicing requirements depend on the water source, water quality, flow rate, application and equipment being protected.

How often should filters be serviced?
There is no single servicing interval that suits every filtration system.
The appropriate frequency depends on factors including:
-
Water source and quality
-
Sediment loading
-
Iron, manganese or other water quality issues
-
Water consumption
-
Irrigation flow rates
-
Filtration type
-
System operating hours
-
The level of protection required for downstream equipment
Some domestic systems may require servicing every 6–12 months, while higher-use agricultural, horticultural and irrigation systems may require more frequent inspection and cleaning.
For UV systems, annual servicing and lamp replacement is generally recommended.
If you're unsure when your system should be serviced, WTS can assess the equipment and recommend an appropriate maintenance schedule.
Signs your filtration system may need servicing
A filter does not always look obviously blocked when performance has already been affected.
Signs that a system may require attention include:
-
Reduced water flow
-
Reduced pressure
-
Increasing pressure differential across a filter
-
Filters becoming visibly dirty
-
Increased frequency of filter cleaning
-
Cloudy or discoloured water
-
Changes in taste or odour
-
UV alarms or warning indicators
-
Increased irrigation pressure loss
-
Poor sprinkler or emitter performance
-
Blocked irrigation components
-
Leaking filter housings or connections
-
A filter or treatment system that has not been serviced for an extended period
For irrigation systems, filtration problems can also contribute to poor distribution and inconsistent application.
Filtration is about more than the filter itself
A filtration system needs to be appropriate for the water quality, flow rate and application.
For example, filtration for a domestic UV system has very different requirements from filtration protecting an irrigation system supplying a horticultural operation.
WTS can look at the filtration system as part of the wider water supply or irrigation system, including pumps, pressure, flow and downstream equipment.
This helps identify whether the filtration is doing its job effectively and whether there are opportunities to improve system performance.
Need your filters serviced?
Whether you need a routine domestic UV service, replacement cartridges, irrigation filter maintenance or servicing of a larger water treatment system, WTS can help.
We service filtration and water treatment systems across domestic, agricultural, horticultural and irrigation applications.
